Fort Smith flu shot clinic runs out of vaccine

FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — A flu shot clinic in Fort Smith that was offering free shots ran out of flu vaccine just two hours into the event.

Community health and access director Samantha Cole at Mercy Fort Smith told the Times Record ( ) that the clinic had used all its adult flu shots before 9 a.m. Friday. The free clinic was scheduled to last until 1 p.m.

Cole says people were lining up as early as 6:30 a.m. for the shots and says she believes the number of severe flu cases this year caused people to seek the vaccinations.

Cole says the Sebastian County Health Department and Mercy Convenient Care locations have flu vaccines for a fee.
