Vegas snowboarder died of chest trauma in accident

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 20-year-old Las Vegas man is dead after a snowboarding accident at a southern Nevada ski resort.

Clark County coroner’s officials say Christopher Jeffery Ruby died at University Medical Center after the incident midday Tuesday at the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort.

Authorities say his cause of death is blunt chest trauma, although details of the accident weren’t available.

Clark County spokesman Erik Pappa says the ski patrol helped the man until Nevada Division of Forestry and volunteer firefighters reached him.

He died a few hours after being airlifted to the hospital.

Officials from the resort issued a statement saying staff members were devastated by the accident, and their thoughts and prayers were with Ruby’s family.
