Pa. man stung by scorpion that was on bananas

HAVERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man is recovering after he was stung by a scorpion that hitched a ride on a bunch of imported bananas.

TV station KYW ( ) reports that the scorpion sting happened as a worker was unloading bananas from Honduras at the Giant food store in Havertown. That’s in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Giant spokesman Chris Brand says in a statement that they regret the incident and have taken immediate steps to prevent it from happening again. The unidentified worker was treated and released from Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
