CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland’s University Hospitals is set to take over two suburban medical centers.

University Hospitals received final approval from government regulators this past week to complete the deal

It will take control of Parma Community General Hospital and EMH Healthcare in Elyria beginning on Jan. 1.

The hospital in Parma will be renamed University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. The Elyria site will become University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

University Hospitals has 18,000 employees at 10 hospitals and 20 outpatient health centers in the Cleveland area.

The hospital says it has no plans to expand or reduce its workforce because of the deal.
