Conn. insurance storefronts to reopen Friday

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut’s health insurance marketplace is reopening its two storefronts following a Christmas break to resume enrolling customers and answering questions.

Access Health CT’s insurance stores, located in New Britain and New Haven, were scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Open enrollment for health insurance runs until March 31. Consumers now have until Jan. 15 to sign up for coverage that will begin on Feb. 1.

As of Monday, Access Health CT enrolled 62,153 residents. More than half were signed up for private insurance plans, which will take effect on Jan. 1. Consumers who have enrolled will receive an invoice from their insurance carrier that must be paid by Jan. 10.

Besides the two stores, people can sign up for coverage online, over the phone or at enrollment events. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
