Some LA food trucks dish up healthier options

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Some food trucks in Los Angeles are partnering with a researcher to offer healthier meals.

Lunch trucks that dish up whole wheat tortillas, fruits and vegetables will receive $250 for their participation in the study headed by Rand Corp. researcher Deborah Cohen, who studies obesity.

The project is funded by the National Institutes of Health.

The Los Angeles Times ( ) reports researchers will track sales and conduct surveys to gauge how customers feel about the balanced meals.

Adelita’s Catering tells the newspapers its new offerings including a grilled fish salad are a hit. But other food trucks like El Pescadito Tacos y Mariscos said customers are slower to embrace the healthier options.
