Ohio university partners with Saudi medical school

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A partnership between Wright State University’s medical school and a medical school in Saudi Arabia will bring American-style education to the Saudi school.

Wright State’s Boonshoft School of Medicine is expanding its global reach under a recent agreement with Unaizah College of Medicine of Qassim University. Wright State says the agreement allows the Saudi medical school to deliver an educational experience parallel with Boonshoft’s medical education program.

Boonshoft officials traveled to Saudi Arabia this month to finalize the three-year $5.5 million agreement.

Wright State says the program will begin in September 2014 with 100 students who have completed a pre-health professions program at Qassim University. Those students will complete a one-year program at Unaizah before 60 of them are selected to continue the remaining years modeled after Boonshoft’s program.
