Assisted living center in Greer to create 35 jobs

GREER, S.C. (AP) — A new assisted living center to be built in Greer will create about three dozen jobs.

The Greenville News reported ( ) the Village at Greer is one of two new facilities being built by Atlanta-based Thrive Senior Living.

The other is in Murrells Inlet.

John Easterling of Spartanburg-based Pulliam is working with Thrive and says construction on the $17 million center will start in Greer next month. Easterling says the new home should open in January 2015.

The facility will have 89 units, with 25 set aside for those with significant memory problems.

Thrive founder Jeramy Ragsdale says the centers he builds include coffee shops, cafes, a movie theater, spa and library. Music is played throughout.

He says the centers have a cruise ship type atmosphere.
