2nd northern Wis. school closed by illness

RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) — A second elementary school in Rhinelander is closing because of an outbreak of sickness.

Officials say so many students at Crescent Elementary School are absent due to illness that the school is voluntarily closing Friday. The district says symptoms include nausea, vomiting, headache and fever.

WAOW-TV (http://bit.ly/1j3Xi8I ) reports it’s the second elementary school in the district dealing with illness. Pelican Elementary also is closed Friday because of illnesses among students and staff.

Crescent Elementary contacted parents to let them know that children could be picked up, even if they’re not sick. Students who cannot be picked up will take the bus home at the end of the day.

The day will not count against the student’s 10 excused days.
