Crashes cause dozens of injuries in southern Wis.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Dozens of people suffered injuries as snow contributed to numerous pileups in southern Wisconsin, including a fatal rollover.

A spokeswoman for Wheaton Franciscan hospitals in Racine and Franklin says they received 40 patients with injuries from motor vehicle crashes over about three hours Sunday. She says most of the injuries were minor.

But WTMJ-TV reports that 18 patients were sent to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with crash injuries, including six in critical condition.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office described conditions earlier Sunday as “extremely slippery and dangerous” with multiple pileups, including a fatal rollover on Interstate 43 eastbound at Highway 100.

North of Milwaukee, the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office reports 40 to 50 cars and a semi were involved in crashes on Interstate 43 with an unknown number of injuries. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
