Bound Brook cop escapes serious injury in crash

BOUND BROOK, N.J. (AP) — A northern New Jersey police officer escaped serious injury when his cruiser was struck by another vehicle.

Bound Brook police tell The Star-Ledger (http://bit.ly/1bd9RbW) that officer Gerard Flanagan was executing a three-point turn on Mountain Road when the collision occurred around 8:50 p.m. Monday. Flanagan had responded to a report of an alarm going off at a nearby location shortly before the crash occurred.

Flanagan was treated at a hospital for back, arm and neck pain and was later released. The driver of the other car was not hurt.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

No summonses have been issued, though the investigation is ongoing.
