Therapy dogs relieve stress at Reno Airport

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A pair of small therapy dogs are helping take some of the stress out of holiday travel for passengers at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Heidi Jared says it’s the first time they’ve used the dogs. She says it’s part of an effort to make Reno travel as relaxed as possible. Staff also is handing out chocolate and bagels to travelers.

Mike and Peggy French were among those glad to see the dogs from “Paws 4 Love” when they arrived at the airport on Wednesday. They told KRNV-TV ( they had just dropped off their dog at the sitter before heading to the airport to fly to Kansas City to see their daughter before she leaves for Afghanistan in February.

Airport officials expect 12,000 travelers a day there through Sunday.
