Roanoke student diagnosed with TB

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Health officials in Roanoke are working to identify people at risk of exposure to tuberculosis after a high school student was diagnosed with the bacterial infection.

Schools Superintendent Rita Bishop announced at a Monday news conference that the William Fleming High School student has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis.

Bishop told media outlets that the student currently is not in school.

She says the school system will test people identified by the local health department as having the greatest risk of exposure.

Another meeting is scheduled for Dec. 2.
