Autopsy set on W. Pa. purse-snatching victim, 82

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy has been planned for 82-year-old southwestern Pennsylvania woman who suffered a broken hip when her purse was snatched eight months ago.

Twenty-four-year-old Brittany Boyd and her 26-year-old sister, Jenna Boyd, remain jailed on charges they conspired to rob an assault Mary Margaret Yourchik outside a Wal-Mart in South Union Township on March 22.

Fayette County District Attorney Jack Heneks says more charges could be filed if the autopsy shows Yourchik’s death stemmed from the attack.

Yourchik suffered a stroke in June while recovering from the broken hip and died in a nursing home on Monday afternoon.

The Boyd sisters have pleaded not guilty in the purse-snatching, which police say was fueled by their heroin habit.

Yourchik was buying birthday candles for her daughter and Easter candy for her grandchildren when she was attacked. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
