Indoor winter farmers markets now open in RI

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Several indoor winter farmers markets sponsored by the state are now open as part of Rhode Island’s campaign to promote fresh, local foods.

The markets include the South Kingstown Market in the Peace Dale Mill complex; the Coastal Growers’ Market in North Kingstown at Lafayette Mill; the Mount Hope Market at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol; the Farm Fresh RI Market at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket; and the Aquidneck Growers’ Market at St. Mary’s Church in Portsmouth.

The state Department of Environmental Managements says the new Hope Valley Market at the Richmond Community Center is also now open.

The Pawtuxet Village Market in Cranston will be open beginning on Dec. 5.
