Rally to address high suicide rate in Tenn.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Shelby County Schools Mental Health Center is holding a suicide prevention rally on Wednesday.

The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST at Colonial Middle Schools.

According to a report from the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network, Tennessee’s suicide rate is 20 percent higher than the national average.

Organizers plan to discuss the warning signs, and youth and teen suicide in particular.

There will also be free health screenings during the rally.
