Sebelius to visit Detroit, discuss health care law

DETROIT (AP) — Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius plans to visit Detroit to discuss how Michigan residents can enroll in health insurance coverage under the federal health care law.

Sebelius also will talk about the government’s troubled health care website Friday morning at the Community Health and Social Services Center on the city’s southwest side.

Her office says Sebelius will observe efforts to inform people about their options under the law that was passed by Congress and President Barack Obama to provide health insurance to Americans who do not have coverage.

Implementation has been slow following the Oct. 1 launch because of problems with the federal health care website.

Obama says his administration no longer will require insurers to jettison plans that fall short of minimum coverage standards under the law.
