1st case of seasonal flu reported in Maine

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Health officials are confirming Maine’s first flu case of the season.

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday that an adult from Kennebec County tested positive late last week for the influenza A virus. The patient did not require hospitalization and is recovering at home.

Annual outbreaks of the seasonal flu usually occur from late fall through early spring.

Officials are recommending that everybody over 6 months old receive a flu vaccine.
