West Des Moines holds prescription drug drop-off

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Authorities are holding prescription drug drop-off event in Des Moines and West Des Moines.

All the events will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

People who want to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs in an environmentally safe way in West Des Moines can bring items to the West Des Moines Police Department at 250 Mills Civic Parkway. In Des Moines, a similar event will be held at Walgreens stores at 3140 SE 14th St. and 3030 University Ave.

The local police departments and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration are sponsoring the events.

Authorities won’t accept needles or bio-hazards.
