Rare cat rabies case in El Paso County

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — El Paso County health officials say a 3-week-old kitten found in an abandoned shed in Fountain is believed to be the first rabies case in a domestic cat in the county since 1966.

The Denver Post reports (http://goo.gl/pA3aK3 ) county health officials announced the cat tested positive for rabies Thursday.

Health officials say four other cases of rabies in cats have been reported in Colorado this year, one each in Larimer, Logan, Washington, and Weld counties.
