Norfolk firefighters battle bed bugs at 5 stations

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Firefighters in Norfolk are battling an infestation of bed bugs.

Media outlets report that the bugs were found at two stations earlier this month. Evidence of bed bugs has since been found at three other stations.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson says the fire department is working with a pest control vendor to treat the infestation and prevent a reoccurrence.

He says the bed bugs are an inconvenience but they haven’t stopped firefighters from serving.

He says bed bugs appear occasionally at fire stations around the country.
