Hassan to speak at Riverbend award ceremony

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire residents who have been champions for people living with mental illness are being honored by Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Hassan will speak Wednesday night at an award ceremony hosted by Riverbend Community Mental Health, which gives its Rainbow Awards to community members each year.

Hassan plans to highlight the importance of addressing New Hampshire’s mental health system challenges. The budget she signed in June provided an additional $24 million for the strained system and to take what she calls long overdue action on the state’s 10-year mental health plan.
