North Newton man killed in southeast Kansas car accident

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a North Newton man was killed in a car accident that injured several others in southeast Kansas around 5 p.m. Friday.

It happened on U.S. 160 in Cherokee County. The driver of a Dodge Durango changed lanes to avoid slow traffic and hit head-on a Toyota Camry driven by 56-year-old Frank Williams, killing him.

Two other passengers in the Toyota were taken to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

The driver of the Dodge and a 1-year-old passenger were taken by private vehicle to a nearby hospital.

The condition of the passengers is unknown.
