Autopsy: UCA student died of a brain aneurysm

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — An autopsy shows that a University of Central Arkansas student who was found dead in a residence hall died of a brain aneurysm.

Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore said Friday that the condition was undetected in 18-year-old Jaykwantay Girley before he was stricken on Wednesday.

The Log Cabin Democrat reports ( ) that Girley was found unconscious in a restroom in Hughes Hall dormitory.

Some tests are pending but Moore said preliminary autopsy results point to a rupture of the aneurysm as the cause of death.

Moore said Girley’s medical history was typical for an 18-year-old.

The university says counselors are still available for students, faculty and staff.
