Toddlers found wandering in neighborhood, mom passed out

Wichita Police Department

WICHITA, Kansas – A neighbor called police after witnessing a 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl wandering around in the 2000 block of East 2nd Street North Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the childens’ mother and two other adults passed out a home.

Alcohol and drug paraphernalia were also found inside.

Police say the adults were sleeping off a party from the night before.

“It’s very disturbing any time that you have children that are unsupervised and are walking around. First of all, I thank the neighbor that intervened and called 911. Second were thankful that nothing happened and the children didn’t walk out into traffic or wander off and get lost,” said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

The three adults were arrested on various felony charges and warrants.

The children are now in protective custody.
