HAYS, Kansas – A high school band member from Hays will be heading to Texas next year to play before thousands.

Aislinn Walters will play alto saxophone in the marching band at halftime for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

Representatives of the U.S. Army and the All-American Games traveled to Hays High School Thursday to present her with the honor.

The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band recognizes the top 125 high school senior marching musicians and color guard members from across the country.

Aislinn auditioned earlier this year by sending in a video of herself marching and a tape of her playing music.

“I am overwhelmed, so excited, I can’t wait for it,” said Aislinn. “It’s definitely the biggest thing that’s happened so far.”

The game takes place January 4 in San Antonio and will be broadcast live on national television.
