Man sentenced for murder, then marries fiancee

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The bride wore white; the groom wore shackles.

U-T San Diego reported Monday (bit.ly/19RjLwF) that San Diego Superior Court Judge Patricia Cookson officiated at the marriage of Danne Desbrow to his fiancee, Destiny, only minutes after sentencing him to 53 years in prison for first-degree murder.

The newspaper says the judge even baked a cake for the ceremony Sept. 17. Cookson declined to respond to a request for comment from the U-T.

Desbrow was sentenced for the 2003 killing of Kevin Santos in 2003 after a witness with key information came forward recently.

His defense attorney argued Desbrow was defending himself in a fight.
