WOBURN, Massachusetts (WHDH) – A Woburn, Massachusetts family is happy they installed a security system after a motion alarm deterred a criminal from stealing anything when he broke in.

Jacqui Duffy said the family installed the system after their house had been broken into twice in the past five years.

Footage from a camera inside the family’s house showed the man climbing through a ground level window with an air conditioner in it.

The burglar was scared off when a motion alarm sounded in the room.

Police were able to use the footage from the camera to identify the man and he was later arrested in Lynn.

Duffy said anyone who is going to climb through such a small hole must be desperate.

“I am angry that he came in but he obviously has a bad problem that he needs help with. I hope he really does get the help that he needs,” she said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
