WICHITA, Kansas – A Wichita woman was badly bruised during a purse snatching.
It happened at the QuikTrip near Pawnee and Meridian Thursday afternoon.
The woman, who identified herself as Angela, does not see herself as a victim.
“I saw him following me down the steps in my peripheral vision, but I never got a look at him.”
Angela stopped at the gas station before heading home, but was attacked by a man in the pouring rain.
“And knocked to the ground, was dragged by my purse until I wasn’t struggling the purse strap broke.”
Witnesses told police the man-made a dash towards a neighborhood across the street where he then tried to find a place to hide in a stranger’s home.
“He asked if he could come in and hide out in this witness’ house, and he told him no.
The suspect took off again running in between homes.
He dropped things out of the purse along the way.
The man got away with Angela’s cell phone, wallet, and some other personal items.
“Why me? It was 5:30 in broad daylight and so many people there. What kind of person could do this?”
Police are considering the man to be dangerous.
They are looking for a black man.
He was wearing a t-shirt at the time.
He is between the age of 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds.
Police say he has a damaged or lazy right eye.
Again he is considered dangerous, so if you see him, call 911 or the police robbery division at 268-4646.
