LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming has joined a research network to help address regional health concerns such as access to care, cancer, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular and infectious diseases.
The network consists of UW and 12 other universities in the Mountain West.
It was formed thanks to a five-year, $20.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
The idea is for the universities in the network to share resources and expertise on research addressing the health needs of people in the Mountain West.
UW College of Health Sciences Dean Joe Steiner says the effort enhances the health research of the institutions beyond what any one member of the network would be able to do alone.
