Toddler pulled from Wichita pond passes away

WICHITA, Kansas – A 17-month-old boy has died after being pulled from a private pond in Wichita.

Ethan Joshua Kimmi was pulled from his grandfather’s fish pond early Monday in the 5100 block of South Madison.

He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition where he passed away.

Police says the boy wandered out of the house and fell into the pond in the backyard.

His family released the following statement:

“It is with great sadness that our beloved Ethan Joshua Kimmi has gone to heaven. In his short life he touched so many people. He never met a single stranger. He is in heaven giving high five’s to everyone. Our family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. This is a very tough time in our lives. He will be greatly missed.
