Family taking quintuplets to hospital in Las Vegas

PHOENIX (AP) — The Las Vegas man who is father of nearly 2-week-old quintuplets born in Arizona says they’ll travel to a Las Vegas hospital in shifts on Friday.

Deon Derrico says three separate flights of a private jet will carry the three girls and two boys along with the parents and a grandparent to Las Vegas from the Phoenix area.

Evonne Derrico carried the babies for eight months, about four weeks longer than the national average for quintuplets.

The family moved to Arizona 22 weeks into her pregnancy to be closer to doctors specializing in multiple births. The babies were delivered by Caesarean section on Sept. 6.

The father says the babies are doing well and are expected to be at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas for several weeks.
