WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating the death of an infant in the 4800 block South Minnesota.

Investigators say a 24-year-old man reportedly had a 5-month-old sleeping in his arms and awoke to find the infant not breathing.

In the course of their investigation, officers say they found unsuitable living conditions and placed a 3-year-old into police protective custody.

Officers are beginning their investigations into both cases.

At this time, they do not know how the child died and whether it was of natural causes or a crime.
