TOPEKA, Kansas – Democrat Paul Davis officially entered the 2014 Kansas governor’s race, announcing his plans to challenge Republican Gov. Sam Brownback.
Davis, the House minority leader and Lawrence attorney, made the announcement Tuesday through social media.
In an online video announcing his candidacy, Davis says he wants to focus on education, protecting the middle class and rewarding hard work in Kansas. He’s says “It’s time to set things right” in Topeka.
The 41-year-old Davis announced earlier this summer that he was forming an exploratory committee to consider a campaign. He has been in the Kansas House since 2003.
Former Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to appear at a reception for Davis n Thursday in Mission Hills.
