Panthers CB Thomas out with concussion

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Carolina Panthers starting cornerback Josh Thomas is out after sustaining a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit on Buffalo Bills receiver Robert Woods.

The Panthers said Thomas would not return to Sunday’s game.

Thomas was hurt early in the second quarter when he burst up the left sideline and led with his helmet in tackling Woods. Thomas lay on the field for a few moments, but was able to get up on his own. He went to the Panthers sideline before being escorted to the locker room.

The third-year player was enjoying a homecoming. Thomas played at the University at Buffalo.
