Laneway indie music festival comes to Michigan

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (AP) — A popular overseas indie music festival is making its North American debut in the Detroit area.

The inaugural Laneway Festival Detroit is set for Saturday at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills.

The nearly two-dozen acts scheduled to perform include Swedish duo Icona Pop and Beyonce Knowles’ sister, Solange.

The Laneway Festival was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2004. It now spans eight cities and four countries — Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.S.

The Detroit installment is to include several stages for performers as well as space dedicated to showcasing local food and drink.
