Wichita Students deliver treats to first responders

WICHITA, Kansas – Some students who weren’t even born when 9/11 happened still understand the significance of the day.

Fifth graders at Peterson Elementary took treats to the EMS station across the street from their school.

They gave the workers bread, muffins, fruit and candy.

“We’re here to thank the EMS for being the first ones to respond to people on 9/11,” said Hannah Moody, fifth grader.

“They were the first responders on 9/11. They were the first ones to help. We should show respect to them,” said Joselyn Lu, fifth grader.

In exchange for the treats, the EMS workers taught the kids a little about what they do when they have to go out on emergency calls.
