WICHITA, Kansas – A 2-year-old was found wandering alone early Tuesday morning at a Wichita Quik Trip.
It happened at the store located at 2010 South Broadway.
“Based on were the child was wandering, they just went back to the hotels and check to see if the child belonged there,” explains Lt. Doug Nolte with the Wichita Police Department. ” The clerk said yes.”
“There was no adult supervision in the room,” said Nolte.
Police took the child into protective custody. The father was found behind what police call an abandoned bar and they say he was passed out. They say he appeared to have been drinking.
Business owners in the neighborhood are, understandably, shocked.
“I can’t believe something like this has happened. I just can’t believe it,” says local business owner Maury. “I think that’s sad. That’s a shame. Whoever did it should get punished for that.”
The father has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated child endangerment.
