KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Temperatures soared in the Kansas City metro area Saturday. In some places the heat index rose to 103 degrees. So when a family couldn’t get a child out of a locked car, one person acted quickly.

A young child was trapped inside a car. That’s when one man took a skateboard and smashed open the window.

Jeffrey Campbell was at Rosedale Park Saturday afternoon playing Frisbee golf when he saw what was happening and hit “record” on his smartphone’s video camera.

“I didn’t really know what was going on,” Campbell said later. “I just knew this guy was carrying his skateboard over to the car and was going to open it. So I just flipped on my camera phone, and he busted out the window.”

The child was no more than 2-years-old. The family accidentally locked the child and keys inside the car.

They quickly asked for help, and the man in the video didn’t think twice. Campbell said, “It was hot; they wanted him out I guess. He decided to take action. I don’t know what made him decide to go ahead and do that.”
