Wichita goes Nuts to advance in playoffs


WICHITA, Kansas – – The Wichita Wingnuts finished off the Grand Prairie AirHogs in a 13 to nothing victory in the third game of the American Association Division Series Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Former Shocker Anthony Capra was the starting pitcher in the deciding game. Capra went 7 1/3 innings, with nine strikeouts and only giving up three hits and one walk to earn the win.

Wichita’s pitching staff threw 30 scoreless innings in the three-game series. The Wingnuts offense put 21 runs on the scoreboard against Grand Prairie.

Wichita will meet either Fargo-Moorhead or Gary SouthShore on the road starting Tuesday night for the first two games of the series.

Games three and if necessary four and shift will shift to Wichita beginning Friday,  September 13th.
