Kuwaiti ruler to visit White House next week

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama will sit down with Kuwait’s ruler at the White House next Friday.

The visit by Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah comes as Obama and top aides are lobbying skeptical lawmakers to support using military force against Syria for a deadly chemical weapons attack the U.S. says was carried out by Syrian President Bashar Assad (bah-SHAR’ AH’-sahd).

The White House says Obama looks forward to meeting with the emir and discussing a range of critical interests and developments in the Gulf region and the broader Middle East.
