Tulane to get $3.M for kidney disease research

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane University researchers will get nearly $3.4 million to continue their work in a national study of kidney disease.

The school announced Wednesday that the money will help pay for the researchers’ next five years of participation in a study that has followed nearly 4,000 patients with chronic kidney disease since 2003.

Tulane hosts one of seven centers around the country involved in the project. The study is funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, one of the National Institutes of Health.
