WSU assistant volleyball coach suspended

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita State volleyball assistant coach Jeff Sanders was suspended on Thurs., Aug. 29 with pay due to conduct detrimental to the athletic program and Wichita State University, Director of Athletics Eric Sexton announced today.

Sanders did not travel with the volleyball team to Orem, Utah for the opening weekend of the season and will not travel to Portland, Ore., this weekend.

The university says they do not comment on personnel issues.

Sanders is in his 10th season at WSU after spending the previous five years as the head coach at Garden City Community College.

During his time at Wichita State, Sanders has helped the Shockers to four Missouri Valley Conference regular-season titles, one MVC Tournament title and seven NCAA Tournament appearances.

In 2012, he helped the Shockers to the first Sweet 16 in school history.
