Schumer to feds: Do dairy research with Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Sen. Charles Schumer is asking federal officials to work with Cornell University on dairy safety issues.

Schumer took a tour of the new food science facility at Cornell on Tuesday and made the request to the Federal Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Schumer says the two agencies should partner with Cornell to increase research and training programs for dairy safety and quality.

Schumer noted that Cornell’s dairy program already has a national reputation and that the partnership could lead to more grants.
