Police: 1 injured in NC high school shooting

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Police say one person was wounded in a shooting at a North Carolina high school and that a suspect is in custody.

A statement from police said officers responded to a shooting report at around 2:30 p.m. Friday at Carver High School. It is on the northeast side of Winston-Salem. The report came just over an hour before classes would have been dismissed for the day.

Police said one person was taken to a hospital with what they described as non-life threatening injuries.

Neither the suspect nor the victim has been identified.

The high school of 700 students was on lockdown for two hours.
