Man electrocuted in Barber County

BARBER COUNTY, Kansas – The Barber County Sheriff’s office responded to an electrocution Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Track Utility was setting a pole when the wind came up and twisted the pole out of grapple of the truck.

The pole hit an electric line where several were working.

Two men, 29-year-old Michael Rowan of Garden City and 20-year-old Dakota Holt of Coulee Dam, Washington, were shocked.

Both were transported to the hospital.

Holt died from his injuries.

Rowan remains in Wichita hospital after receiving electrical burns to his hands, feet and face.

The Barber County Sheriff’s Department investigated and said no signs of negligence were found.
