Officials write nine citations during operation “Cops on Rails”

WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, Wichita Police Department, and the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted Operation “Cops on Rails/Officer on the Train” in Wichita between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers wrote nine citations, eight of which were for violating railroad crossing statutes.

There was one drug arrest.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad says they would like to remind motorists, that when a train is approaching a railroad crossing to stop, look, listen, and live.
