WICHITA, Kansas — A truck is driving erratically over the roads. Police suspect drunk driving, but when they pull over the truck, they find a 12-year-old boy behind the wheel and a drunk adult in the passenger seat.

It happened Sunday morning in the 3500 block of South Martinson.

“The intoxicated passenger had come over and told his dad he was too drunk to drive and wanted something to eat and wanted to know if he’d let the son, the 12-year-old, drive him to get some food,” explained Sgt. Bart Brunscheen from the Wichita P.D. “Dad said ‘sure.'”

The passenger in the truck now faces child endangerment charges. Police say the father could face charges as well. The 12-year-old boy was not ticketed by police.
