PITTSBURG, Kan. (AP) – Pittsburg State University is getting closer to snuffing out smoking.

The Joplin Globe reports that President Steve Scott says there’s “clearly an interest” in accepting a task force recommendation that the campus go tobacco free. Scott says the administration wants a conversation to begin about how the policy can be advanced.

A student referendum completed in the spring of 2012 suggested 77 percent approval of such a policy.
