Emergency surgery for critically injured boy, 2

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A Macomb County boy who was critically injured while in the care of his mother’s boyfriend has undergone emergency brain surgery.

Police say Ronald Dimambro attacked Damian Sutton on Wednesday in Washington Township, about 30 miles north of Detroit. The 26-year-old was arrested on charges of first-degree child abuse.

The Macomb County jail says Dimambro remains in custody on a $500,000 bond. It says it has no record of whether he has a lawyer.

His preliminary examination is scheduled Tuesday.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens and The Detroit News say Damian underwent surgery Sunday at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
